He completed doctoral studies in the Department of Personality, Evaluation and Psychological Treatment of the UNED, related to Stress and the Immune System, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Moobing. Chief of Brigade in the Forest Fire Service of the Generalitat Valenciana, with more than 20 years of experience. With multidisciplinary training at the Master's level in areas such as: Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Management, Sport Psychology, Human Resources Management, Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Coaching. Postgraduate in Environmental Consulting and Criminology. As a psychologist, he collaborates with several companies and institutions in the area of training in Psychology in Emergencies and Human Resources management. He is Professor at the University of Valencia in the Master in "Intervention and operational coordination in emergencies and catastrophes" and Diploma of University Specialization in "Instructor in Emergency Operations Services", among others. He is Director and President of the International Scientific-Professional Committee of the National Symposium on Forest Fires (SINIF). He has given numerous conferences at international level and has been part of the Organizing Committee of several International Congresses. He is part of the Editorial Board of several international scientific journals. He has published numerous articles on forest fires, stress, psychosocial risks and emotional trauma, mainly in relation to emergency services and natural disasters. Currently, he is assigned to the Research Group in "Climate and Territorial Planning" (Department of Regional Geographical Analysis and Physical Geography) of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Alicante, where he researches on the Social Perception of Forest Fire Risk and Conduct to possible Disasters. He is a member of the Spanish Society for the Study of Anxiety and Stress (SEAS), and the Spanish Association of Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology (AEPCP).

Dr Abed worked as a consultant psychiatrist and Hon Senior Lecturer in the NHS in England for 25 years and as a medical director of a mental health Foundation Trust in England for 7 years. He is currently a member of the Mental Health Tribunals in England. Dr Abed has had a longstanding interest in the application of evolutionary theory to the understanding of mental health and mental disorder. He has published novel theories and hypotheses on a number of psychiatric conditions including eating disorders, OCD and schizophrenia and has collaborated with colleagues across the world in testing some of these theories. Dr Abed has been a vocal advocate for the inclusion of evolutionary theory into undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and has played a central role in the establishment of the evolutionary psychiatry special interest group (EPSIG) at the Royal college of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) in the UK. He is currently secretary of the section of evolutionary psychiatry at the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and is also founding chair of EPSIG at the RCPsych.

He was part of the panel of Volunteering and International Psychiatry Special Interest Group (VIPSIG), Equivalence committee, Trainee support Group and also was the first Pakistani origin Pakistan born Psychiatrist to lead MEDFEST in 2015 - a medical festival based on movies and perception of psychiatry in Media, the theme that year was Mental Health and Civilizations, there were in total 60 events that was hosted in 2015-16 all over world that included UK, Australia, Latvia, Portugal, South Africa, Canada, Pakistan and India. Dr. St. Amour recently served for two years as a Regional Staff Counselor providing stress management and psychological support to the United Nations civilian staff, Police and Military Peacekeepers with The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). Upon his return to the USA, he joined DCF/Childcare Regulations as a Family Services Counselor, then successively moved on to working with the Agency for Healthcare Administration as a Senior Human Services Program Specialist with the State of Florida.
